Biography
Lindsay Lohan is a popular actress, model, and singer who was born on July 2, 1986 and was raised in New York City. Her mother used to be an actress, too as she was a former Radio City "Rockette" while Lindsay's father is a Wall Street trader who got rich due to a family pasta business. He, however, is now rechanelling his resources to film producing and development.
Starting Young
Lindsay was naturally beautiful that she was already modeling when she was 3 years old as she became the first brunette child to be signed by the well-known Ford Modeling Agency. Aside from being cute, young Lindsay was blessed with talent, too. She performed in more than 60 TV commercials like Wendy's, The Gap, Abercrombie & Fitch, Pizza Hut, Jell-O, and Calvin Klein.
Lindsay's first real job in acting came when she was seven, and it was in a Halloween-themed skit on The Late Show with David Letterman entitled "Things You Find on the Bottom of the Subway", in which her costume is a garbage. Lindsay had another huge break in 1996 when she starred on the NBC soap drama, 'Another World'.
Afterwards, she became popular with Disney's remake of the movie hit family comedy, 'The Parent Trap' which was a 1961 original. She got the role that Hayley Mills portrayed in the original movie after a six-month casting search ended with her. Lindsay starred as twin sisters Annie James and Hallie Parker, who were estranged and when they had a first encounter with each other at a summer camp, hatched up a scheme to reunite their parents. It became a blockbuster, and Lindsay also became a Young Artist Awardee for Leading Young Actress, an award that she and Jena Malone of 'Stepmom' shared.
'The Parent Trap' also rewarded Lindsay a three-film contract with Disney. She appeared in Disney's 'Life-Size', a comedy that also featured Tyra Banks the supermodel and was produced in 2000. She then played the role of a gossip columnist of a school paper wanting to discover what happened to a teacher who became missing in a 2002 Original Movie of the Month of Disney Channel, 'Get a Clue.'
Teenage Triumph
Meanwhile, music mogul Emilio Estefan, Jr. of Estefan Enterprises signed Lindsay to a five-album contract in September of 2002. Casablanca Records, with Tommy Mottola as head, signed Lindsay to a recording contract two years later and 'Speak', her début album was released in December 2004, and peaked at number four on the Billboard 200.
Lohan also did another Disney classic remake, 'Freaky Friday' in 2003, in which she reprised the role that Jodie Foster originally did and she co-starred with Jamie Lee Curtis. The fantasy movie earned more than $100 million in US alone, and it showcased Lindsay's singing abilities, with her song entitled "Ultimate" propelling the soundtrack to Billboard's Top 20 just before three weeks of release in the market.
Lindsay Lohan acted in the films 'Herbie: Fully Loaded', another production by Disney, as well as in 'Gossip Girl' and also 'Fashionistas' in 2005, 'I Dream of Jeannie' in 2006, and 'Dramarama' in 2007.
Lindsay enjoys swimming, rollerblading, doing gymnastics, and apparently partying late nights at clubs with Paris and Nicky Hilton and Nicole Richie during her free hours. Her party going antics, however, have gone over the top so much so that she was recently checked into rehab for her being an alcoholic.
